What To Wear To A Black Tie Wedding

In short, black tie weddings are the most formal of the dress codes (not including white tie), most likely to be used for a formal evening event. Guests usually dress in tuxedos and floor-length dresses.

It can be particularly hard to decide what you yourself should wear to a wedding, never mind having to think about what your children or child guests at a wedding should wear! To help you out, we’ve put together some tips so you can easily find that perfect outfit suitable for the big occasion.

What girls should wear to a black tie wedding:

First things first, it’s easy to know what direction to go in all depending on whether they’re part of the wedding party as a bridesmaid or flower girl etc, or attending as a wedding guest. If they’re part of the wedding party then the bride will likely pick out their dress or give some direction of what they should wear. If they’re invited to be a guest, one thing is clear – they shouldn’t wear white or anything close to white.

What boys should wear to a black tie wedding:

This is a bit easier than girls attire as there are only really a couple of options that can be worn and the main one is nearly always a tux. The other option would be a formal dinner suit, be sure to avoid any bold or bright colours though as that is not fitting with the theme. As the name of the theme is black tie, the clear accessory should be (shock) a black tie.
